Download Stock Firmware




The first step is to download the stock firmware for your Sony Xperia A4 SO-04G from Xperifirm. Xperifirm is a tool that lets you download the latest firmware for any Sony Xperia device from the official servers. To use Xperifirm, you will need to have Java installed on your computer.

  • Select the folder containing the firmware files and click on the arrow button.



  • Select all the files except FOTA and TA and click on the arrow button again.



  • Enter the device model, version, branding, and region in the text fields and click on Create.



  • Wait for the FTF file to be created and close Flashtool.




You should now have a file named after your device model and firmware version with .ftf extension in C:\Users\username\.flashTool\firmwares.


Flash FTF File on your Xperia Device




The final step is to flash the FTF file on your Sony Xperia A4 SO-04G using Flashtool. Before you proceed, make sure to backup your data and charge your battery to at least 50%. Also, enable USB debugging on your device by going to Settings > About phone > Tap on Build number seven times > Go back to Settings > Developer options > Enable USB debugging.



  • Run Flashtool.exe and click on the lightning bolt icon.



  • Select Flashmode and click on OK.



  • Select the FTF file that you created in the previous step and click on Flash.



  • Wait for Flashtool to prepare the files for flashing and follow the instructions on the screen.



  • When prompted, connect your device to the computer while holding the volume down button.



  • Wait for Flashtool to flash the FTF file on your device and reboot it.



  • Disconnect your device from the computer and enjoy the new firmware.
